City of Madrid and Toledo
|
This is a full day combining two tours in one day of travel - for a special discounted price!
Madrid:
We will drive through the courtesan district of the Hapsburgs characterized by
Renaissance and Baroque style buildings including Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor
and Plaza de la Villa. We will visit the Madrid of the Bourbons and its complex
planning schemes, the Royal Palace, Cibeles and Neptuno Fountains, and the
Puerta de Alcala. We will admire the works of Jose Bonaparte including the
elegant Plaza de Oriente and The Prado Museum. We will discover contemporary
Madrid with avenues such as Gran Via, Castellana, the district of Salamanca,
Plaza de Castilla, Parque del Oeste, University Campus, as well as the
commercial and financial zones and famous Las Ventas Bullring. Toledo: The beautiful imperial 'city-museum' of Toledo is located 70km (40 miles) away
from Madrid. It is one of the oldest towns in Europe, called the ?city of three
cultures?, since Christians, Muslims and Jews lived here in harmony for many
years together. It has genuine Spanish buildings that include almost every
period in Spain's history (Arab, Gothic, Mudejar, Renaissance and Baroque). A
highlight of a visit to Toledo is seeing the famous paintings by the
16th-century master, El Greco. Toledo was the setting for many of El Greco's
artworks, including the famous 'Burial of the Count of Orgaz' at the church of
Saint Tome.
Enjoy getting lost in narrow cobblestone streets and historic alleyways... |
