The city has its origin in the shrine of Saint James the Great, which today is the city’s cathedral. It is a destination for the famous Catholic pilgrimage (Saint James Way) which was originated in the 9th century. In 1985 the Old Town of Santiago was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We will start the day by driving through the scenic Galician countryside towards the town of Santiago de Compostela (which means “Field of Stars”).
