Discover beautiful Galicia on a shore excursion from the port of Vigo

There are 2 main routes to choose from when arriving at the port of Vigo.  Take a half-day excursion of Vigo and Baiona or a full-day tour to the pilgrimage city of Santiago de Compostela.

Half-day Vigo and Baiona Shore Excursion

For the Vigo and Baiona day trip, we will start by visiting Baiona and the Fortress of Monterreal which offers great views over the islands. We then make our way to the historic quarter where, after a walk with our local expert guide you will have some free time to enjoy the atmosphere of this picturesque town.
After Baiona we will head to Vigo and take in the stunning views of the bay from El Castro where you will find a ruined 17th century hilltop fortress. We will then descend down into the historic quarter and experience the sights, sounds and tastes of this very intriguing city. Just before the tour ends the guide will suggest some restaurants where you can have the opportunity to taste the local dishes and tapas of this region (extra). Galicia is well known in Spain for its great quality food and wine.

The tour takes approximately 5 hours.

Full-day Excursion to Santiago de Compostela

The trip to Santiago de Compostela visits the beautiful city and its main attraction the towering cathedral. This magical city is a must see for many tourists visiting Galicia and a welcomed site for the many pilgrims ending their Camino de Santiago.

Santiago was founded around the beginning of the 5th century not long after the collapse of the Roman Empire.  It became famous with the discovery of the the remains of the Apostle St. James in the early 9th century.

The Plaza Obradoiro is where the main entrance to the cathedral is situated, opposite is the Raxoi Palace which is now the town hall.  Santiago de Compostela’s historic quarter is full of architecture and monuments dating from the Romanesque to Baroque and Neo Classical periods and almost all display impressive grandeur. This city is very impressive and we may also include a visit to Vigo if time permits.

We are very experienced with cruise passengers and look forward to welcoming you at port.
