Discover beautiful Galicia on a shore excursion from the port of Vigo

There are 2 main routes to choose from when arriving at the port of Vigo.  The half-day excursion to Vigo and Baiona or the full-day tour to the pilgrimage city of Santiago de Compostela.

Half-day Vigo and Baiona Shore Excursion

This tour starts in Baiona and the Fortress of Montereal, offering great views over the islands. Next we visit the historic city center for a guided walking tour and additional free-time on your own. Soak up the atmosphere of this picturesque medieval town and walk along the Galician terraced houses.

Next, we will head to Vigo to enjoy the views of the bay from El Castro, a hilltop fortress built in 1665 to protect the city from the continuous raids by the British Royal Navy. Descending down into the historic quarter we will explore this intriguing city. Towards the end of the tour, we will suggest some restaurants where you can have the opportunity to taste the local dishes and tapas of this region (extra). Galicia is well known in Spain for its great quality food and wine, and we can suggest several great options.

The tour takes approximately 5 hours.

Full-day Excursion to Santiago de Compostela

The excursion to Santiago de Compostela takes us to the beautiful capital of Galicia. This magical city is a must see for many visitors and the primary destination for a leading Catholic pilgrimage route since the 9th century (The Way of St. James).

Santiago was founded around the beginning of the 5th century not long after the collapse of the Roman Empire.  It became famous with the discovery of the the remains of the Apostle St. James in the early 9th century.

The Plaza Obradoiro is where the main entrance to the Cathedral is found, opposite the Raxoi Palace which is now the town hall.  Santiago de Compostela’s historic quarter is full of architecture and monuments dating from the Romanesque to Baroque and Neo Classical periods and almost all display impressive grandeur. This city is very impressive.

The tour lasts approximately 7-8 hours and may also include a visit to Vigo, subject to available time.
